This anti-collision device with a 32 mm clear aperture is mounted above the process tool – predominantly a cutting head. If the tool were to collide with the work piece or other item, then the anti-collision mechanism will cause the head to deflect along the X, Y and Z-axes. The three built-in proximity switches communicate with the machine control unit that is then able to trigger an emergency stop action. In doing so, costly and time-consuming damage to the machine, beam delivery components and work piece can be prevented. Once the cause of the collision has been resolved, the machine repositions itself to its former co-ordinates with the greatest of accuracy.
